4 Ways to Recharge

“One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from a horse master. He told me to go slow to go fast. I think that applies to everything in life. We live as though there aren’t enough hours in the day but if we do each thing calmly and carefully we will get it done quicker and with much less stress.” ~ Viggo Mortensen
Stress zaps energy, and a recent study by The American Institute of Stress found that 20% of us experience “extreme stress” at least weekly.
Information published by Harvard Medical School concludes that our electronic devices could be at least part of the problem, at least where restorative sleep is concerned. They suggest that you seek abundant exposure to bright natural sunlight during the day and then turn off all electronic devices, including the television an hour before bedtime.

Here are a couple of energy thieves and ways to neutralize them:

Avoid being around people who exhaust you.
We all know people like this. Someone who perhaps talks endlessly about personal matters, is incessantly negative, a gossip or a passive-aggressive guilt tripper.
Take control of the time you allow these people to have with you by establishing boundaries, or eliminate time with them altogether if it is just too exhausting for you to be around them.
Recognize time sucks.
If you are feeling that at the end of the day you spent more hours in trivial pursuits than actually being productive, find a way to manage your time more efficiently. Identify where the time drain is. Perhaps you are checking email multiple times a day, or spending way too much time on Facebook or YouTube watching cute kitten videos.
Then make a conscious decision to manage your time more effectively. Check email twice a day instead of multiple times. Take a technology break. Go for a walk. Have a real conversation with a friend or loved one.
