Unlock Your Body's Potential Of Naturally Healing Itself!

Restorative Rejuvenation Treatments with PRP/PRF Asheville, NC | Biltmore Restorative Medicine & Aesthetics

At Biltmore Restorative Medicine and Aesthetics, we are proud to offer the newest addition to the field of regenerative medicine: platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). Up to this point, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been the only platelet-based product offered for treatment. However, treatments are continually improving due to evolving research and technology. At Biltmore Restorative Medicine and Aesthetics, one of our goals is to be at the forefront of any therapy we offer. We are proud to be the first practice in WNC using this dramatically improved platelet therapy–PRF!

What is platelet-rich plasma?

True Rejuvenation

The body has incredible resources to heal itself. Imagine harnessing this natural healing ability to restore and rejuvenate specific areas of our body. Platelets, found naturally in the blood, are the vehicles for healing. When an injury occurs, the platelets activate and release growth factors to heal the wound. Platelet-rich plasma also has a long history in treating surgical recovery, bone cancer, ulcers, and torn ligaments. There have been reported successes in a large variety of other conditions. PRP or platelet-rich plasma is the process of taking your own blood and enriching (or supercharging) it with your own platelets and then injecting the growth factors that help skin and tissue be both healthier and more vibrant - anti-aging at it's best!

Additional Reading

For over 25 years, platelet-rich plasma has shown promise as a way to accelerate the healing process. PRP has been used safely and documented in many fields, such as sports medicine, orthopedics, aesthetics, urology, dentistry, wound care, ophthalmology, cardiothoracic, and maxillofacial surgery. At our office in Asheville PRP is used in many applications, such as improving skin elasticity and firmness for a more youthful appearance, restoring hair growth, and treating sexual health challenges in men and women.

Superior PRP Treatment in Asheville

exponentially better results

Not all PRP is the same, and your best results require the highest quality treatment. While other providers offer PRP treatment, Biltmore takes PRP to a whole other level. Other PRP providers use PRP concentrated to 1.4 times its native concentration. At Biltmore, our PRP achieves 8-10 times the native concentration for exponentially better results.

PRP or PRF: What’s the difference?

Understanding Your Platelet-Based Treatment

The main difference between PRP and PRF is that an anticoagulant is used in PRP creation to keep your blood sample from clotting while it's being treated. Fibrin (a clotting component) is permitted to develop during PRF synthesis. The finished PRF product acts as a scaffold or matrix, allowing platelets to release more slowly after your injection.

Other differences include:

  1. Amount of blood: Both PRP and PRF require blood to be taken from the patient. However, PRP needs more blood to be processed than PRF.
  2. Types of cells: Both PRP and PRF require the whole blood sample to be placed in a centrifuge to separate the cells into distinct layers. PRF is spun at a slower speed so that some of the white blood cells and stem cells remain with the platelet layer collected for treatment. And the concentration of platelets is greater with PRF than with PRP. Thus, there are more healing factors within PRF products than with PRP
  3. Trauma to cells: In addition, the lower spin speed used for PRF causes less trauma to the individual cells, thereby making the cells more effective.
  4. Concentration of platelets: Research shows that an ideal concentration of platelets for PRP is between 2-5 times the level of platelets typically found within the body. Newer research now points out that an even higher concentration of platelets is more effective. PRF products contain approximately 10 times the platelet concentration found within the body. Most practices are not even reaching two times native concentrations.
  5. Anticoagulant: With PRP, the blood that is collected is placed in test tubes that have an anticoagulant called acid citrate dextrose (ACD), which keeps the blood from clotting too quickly. This additive can be painful and irritating to patients. PRF does not require any anticoagulants, thereby maintaining a more natural environment for the platelets.
  6. Fibrin: Because anticoagulants are not used with PRF, this allows the fibrinogen in the blood to convert thrombin into fibrin naturally. Fibrin, in basic terms, is what platelets bind to as they circulate. And when fibrin binds to platelets, they release growth factors that help create new collagen, skin cells, blood vessels, and nerves.

In summary, PRF is the next-generation of PRP and has been proven to be more effective because of the types and concentration of cells it contains. So, where do we see these results?

PRP Benefits

A Natural Healing Solution

Only at Biltmore do you get PRP at 8x the concentration of conventional medical spas. Your platelets are made up of natural growth hormones, cytokines, and proteins that aid in healing soft tissues and bones by performing cell repair and regeneration.

Growth factors also help reduce inflammation by conveying signals throughout the body. Cytokines aid cell regeneration and wound healing. Platelets then adhere to injured musculoskeletal tissues, such as tendons and ligaments, to form a clot to halt bleeding. The quick production of new tissue will accelerate your healing process. However, during this period, your doctor may urge you to avoid vigorous activity or exercise. When compared to the same treatment without PRP, PRP therapy produces better benefits. When receiving PRP/PRF Asheville patients' sessions are under 30 minutes and offer no pain or downtime.

Your PRP/PRF Procedure

How does PRP work?

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm. The blood is placed in a centrifuge and spun so that it separates. After 15 minutes, we take the PRP from the centrifuge and inject it into the skin. The platelet-rich plasma stimulates new collagen to form at the injection site because it is enriched with platelets and proteins that stimulate growth.

The activated platelets stimulate the growth of new tissue, nerves, and blood vessels in and around the injection sites. Using your own body’s natural growth factors and other healing and rejuvenating products may astound you! Because this process involves your own blood and no other additives or medications, it is 100% natural healing. Tissue growth factors in concentrated plasma help your body generate healthy, new cells, repair damaged tissue, and reduce the signs of aging.

PRP Recovery & Results

Authentically You

For three to ten days after your treatment, you may experience bruising, soreness, and swelling at the injection site. You should be able to resume your normal activities the next day, with a few restrictions. You are advised not to use any cosmetics, lotions, or creams on the injected area for the next six hours.

Showering should be delayed for six hours following your injection since a temperature change may hinder your body from reacting to your PRP therapy. Your provider will provide you with further information. It is crucial to follow all post-care instructions for optimal results. Your provider may recommend three sessions spaced one month apart to achieve the best effects. For best results, you'll need to return every six months for follow-up treatments.
